Senior Developer, Platform and Data Engineering San Francisco, CA, USA

About us

TalentBin has developed a "talent search engine" that aggregates public data about potential job candidates based on their online & digital activity (e.g. we interpret their Github commits, tweets, patents, Quora answers, and so on). We use these “implicit profiles” to help companies find the best talent that actually matches what they are looking for on more than just their skills alone (“this person is well respected in the iOS community AND is into running; a perfect fit for our fitness app!”).

We then couple these awesome profiles with a focus on developing next generation search and workflow (CRM) tools that help recruiters better discover the right people, and effectively build and maintain their relationships with them.

About The Role

This role will focus on the TalentBin data pipeline which spans data aggregation, processing and matching with the ultimate goal of growing our corpus of profiles used by recruiters to find and engage awesome candidates. As if that weren't enough, there will be opportunities to experiment with and find interesting ways to leverage our massive collection of data.

This is an awesome opportunity for the right person to come in and own a big chunk of the data pipeline that drives a ton of downstream value for the business. We have a system in place that has ingested hundreds of millions of profiles from across the web and has turned those into usable TalentBin profiles but now we need to take that to the next level. We have plans to add new sources and to increase the throughput of the system all while increasing the freshness and accuracy of the data.

The data pipeline is one element of the larger platform that supports the customer visible application. While your focus will be on the pipeline you will have the opportunity to contribute to the platform team.

Sound like a challenge you'd get excited about? Read on...

Responsibilities
  • Scale and enhance the data pipeline so that we can crawl and ingest more sources faster and refresh them more frequently
  • Build new tools and crawlers and then build a framework so that other developers, including junior developers, can pick up and scale the number of sources
  • Build, test and iterate so that you’re always moving projects forward and learning as you go
  • Mentor junior developers - you might not have manager in your title but we expect the senior members of the team to contribute to the development of the more junior members
  • Develop relationships with the teams at Monster who can benefit from the work delivered by TalentBin and also with teams who are doing work that could help TalentBin
